Job Description
As a Steel Fixer, you will be building engineering plans, using hand and power tools, and working with steel mesh and bars to build reinforcements used in concrete buildings.
Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and other structural diagrams to determine the type and quantity of materials needed for the job
- Cut and shape steel bars and plates using hand tools such as hacksaws, hammers, and chisels
- Assemble and weld steel components together using welding equipment
- Bolt and secure steel components in place using hand tools such as wrenches, clamps, and bolts
- Place and secure steel supports in place using the appropriate tools
- Install bolts, nuts, and other fasteners to secure steel components in place
- Cut and shape steel components
- Use hydraulic jacks and other lifting equipment to move and position steel components.
- Clean and maintain steel components and tools
- Inspect and test completed structures for accuracy and safety
- Follow safety protocols and procedures when working with steel components
